RICHARD KENVIN'S SURF CRAFT EXPO
via Pilgrim Surf + Supply
"Join with us to raise money to bring Richard Kenvin’s Surf Craft exhibition to the East End of Long Island.
Surf Craft (originally exhibited at San Diego’s Mingei International Museum) chronicles the evolution of surfboard design featuring American makers and shapers of all kinds of wave-riding boards. It explains how meticulous handcraftmanship can inform modern high volume commercially-made surf craft.
This goodcircle project is to fund the fees necessary to launch the exhibition at LongHouse Reserve in Long Island this coming August. The cost of bringing the exhibition from San Diego to LongHouse is almost $38,000, including all fees and transport.
And now we need you.
Click here to read more about the exhibition – be sure to watch the video, and if you are so moved, please make a donation. There’s a reward for every level of giving starting with free tickets to the exhibition opening, to a copy of Richard’s book, and much more."

ALBERT SHELTON'S RUBBISH
There will be many incredible experiments presented over two days. We tried to pre-document as many as we could, and those will be captured in WAX Magazine's bespoke zine created for the event. But our submissions are open still, frankly. Have a board, bring it buy (just sign the release.) Albert Shelton has been brewing an idea for some time. We're excited to see it. We'll be even more excited to try and ride it at the Fish Fry(e).
"The idea to do this for IDNW has been brewing for a while....the seed started to grow since I've been at my job at an art handling warehouse and have watched industrial amounts of waste made by the fine art industrial complex.
Logistics of getting anything from the immense waste at my job in queens back to Brooklyn without a car led me to trash pick this goldmine stash of foam and card in my neighborhood after work today, on the night before trash day tonight…
Somehow I found this all basically within 4 blocks....in an hour. I plan to use packing tape and maybe hot glue which could require buying a glue gun verdicts still out on glue. Its a total experiment and since I missed IDNW last year and because I've been dying to shape something, this seems like the perfect chance to go nuts on something."
¡SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED!
DAY LATE & A DOLLAR SHORT : PREMIERING AT IDNW
SMASH Productions is pleased to announce the New York Premiere of “A Day Late & A Dollar Short: The Dale Egan Story” in conjunction with the It Doesn’t Not Work Surfboard Show on Saturday, April 25th 7:30PM at Picture Farm Gallery. The screening is free and opened to the public. Directed by Australian photographer Ben Cregan, ’A Day Late & A Dollar Short’ is a portrait of an original punk surfer, living on the fringe of a modern world. Dale Egan is a man who refuses to conform to conventional life in a contemporary society. This biopic follows Dale’s journey from being a 70′s surfing prodigy to 80′s punk pioneer of Luna Tech (an avant-garde furniture store/arts enclave in Sydney), which led to a decade of drug use, creativity and self exploration. Sacrificing potential wealth, family and security Dale perseveres with a surfer’s life and philosophy loyal to a less complicated era and reclaiming the artifacts of a disposable society. The film challenges its audience to reflect on the way chance, consequence and values shape a life, its opportunities, losses and moments of grace.
Surf scribe & legendary surfer Derek Hynd will be on hand to talk about his good mate Dale Egan.

EXPERIMENT No.3 FROM SHWOOD
Apocalypse Snow, Le Film 1993
Last year Jeff Taylor astounded us with his surfy take on the classic Winterstick snowboard. His creation having yet to be surfed last time, has since found its way around the globe and into the hands of some accomplished surfers. We'll be stoked to see the evolution and get some wave-riding anecdotes.
As Ty says, light one up and sit back and enjoy this bizarro ride:
"Short film by legendary Didier Lafond in which monoskiers wicked looking to steal the secret of the slides nice surfing. An excuse to shoot beautiful gliding images. First installment in a series of four."
